ITPM Flash Ep34 – Summary

In this episode of ITPM flash Ed Shek talks about AI and the tech landscape by talking about the different sub-sectors within the broader tech industry. He also talks about how he is positioning for the next earnings season.

Tech Industry and Sub-Sectors

Ed has taken out TSLA for the time being because he doesn’t want to be long TSLA anytime soon. Hyperscalers have seen great demand as companies want to build their own AI applications. MSFT could benefit from a laptop upgrade cycle, AMZN boosts online sales with AI, META using AI to boost their share on digital ad spend, NVDA is the AI name out there, AAPL has bad quants but positive outlook on the long run. He thinks these are and will be the long-term winners.

AI Hardware

This index includes all the semiconducters like AMD, INTL, NVDA, SMCI, etc. These companies are on the forefront to enable AI mass adoption. Ed doesn’t think they are shorts now but there is some dispersion in the group. NVDA has awesome growth for now but at one time there will a competing chip developed (could take years though) which will nibble on the market leader.

AI Software

Ed thinks the software sector is one of the most interesting in the market! In his opinion, for each $1 on hardware like NVDA there will be $5-10 on the consumer end that will come into the software companies. This index has some names in it like ADBE, PLTR, PATH, SYM, RBLX, FLNC etc.

S&P 400 Mid Cap

The purple line are the “normal tech” names in which Ed is seeking some shorts.

ITPM Flash Ep34 – Conclusion

There are and will be some clear AI winners going forward from here. Ed wants to be overweight AI tech and short tech names that have no or limited AI opportunities going forward. In this ITPM Flash he gives some great examples of names to further investigate and do some research. If you don’t know how, check out ITPM courses (discount codes available).
